Gilles van Hövell tot Westervlier

Gilles van Hövell has 40 years technical and operational management experience in the airline industry. He graduated as Aerospace Engineer at the Technical University of Delft in Holland and joined KLM in 1979.
Gilles occupied a variety of functions in Supply Chain management, Quality Assurance, Aviation Regulations and Organization Redesigns. In addition he worked for several years on behalf of KLM as Committee member of the Association of European Airlines.
Also Gilles was delegated by KLM to Transavia Airlines to manage the implementation of JAR OPS 1. In 1996 Transavia Airlines was the first airline to receive the JAR OPS 1 certification.
Gilles has extensive knowledge on all aspects of continuing airworthiness management and EASA Regulations.
In 2005 Gilles was appointed as Program Director KLM E&M for the aircraft transactions. With a team of engineers and supporting staff he managed over 40 aircraft re-deliveries.
Gilles started in 2012 as Managing Partner of Aviation Independent Consulting. AIC advises and supports commercial clients and governments, aircraft leasing companies, aircraft operators, aircraft maintenance providers, financial institutes and aviation authorities.
Jan Willem Storm van ’s Gravesande
General Legal Counsel
Jan Willem Storm van ’s Gravesande has 40 years experience in the airline industry. He studied Economics as well as Law at Groningen University and specialised in Air-- and Space Law at Utrecht University in The Netherlands.
After graduations he served as General Secretary to the Board and Supervisory Board of an international Helicopter and Fixed Wing Operator and acted as Legal Counsel of that company.
He lectured Air Law at the NLS – ab initio training of airline pilots.
He joined KLM in 1981. Jan Willem occupied a variety of functions in different KLM departments. He was a.o. Secretary to the Board of Directors and Supervisory Board of Directors of KLM, Director Strategy of KLM’s Flight Operations Department and General Legal Counsel at KLM Engineering & Maintenance, mainly specialising in contract negotiations with third party airlines, lessors and various other aircraft operators.
In 2014 he has been appointed Vice Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bonaire International Airport in the Caribbean.
Jan Willem lectured at numerous universities all over the world on different air law- and aviation-related subjects.
He has published some 75 articles in different magazines on the subject of air law.
He is chief-editor of the Journaal Luchtrecht (“Journal of Air Law”).
